Crazy Quilts most likely evolved as a way to make use of every scrap of fabric. Traditionally stitched to a foundation fabric, using a similar technique to today's foundation paper piecing. The seams lines were often decorated with embroidery stitches. During the Victorian era these quilts were quite elaborate with the use of satins, velvets and lace as embellishments. Crazy quilts are still popular today for using up those odd scraps of fabric, although many made today are planned and fabric is brought specially for the quilt. The best way to learn something is by doing so we have some patterns using the crazy quilt style. First of all 4 different block sets if you want to try your hand at a quilt.
