I have transferred the design onto a 12" block of muslin, but I think it would make a 10" block as well. Aside from the basic Redwork Outline stitch with 2 strands of DMC red floww, I plan to do the stars with little cross stitches and in every other stripe area, starting at the top, I will be doing a chain stitch to make it appear as a solid red stripe. One could also fill them in with satin or long and short stitches. The words I will do with one strand of floss in either a split stitch or itty-bitty chain stitch.
This block could also be done with outline stitch in colors following the guidelines of your original block pattern. I think the mountains would be great in purple for "Purple Mountains Majesty", don't you? I might just have to make another block!
